Day Three

We woke up at dawn, got gas in Calgary ($4/gal ouch), and drove towards Dawson Creek. That is where the Alaskan Highway actually starts, milepost 0.

Milepost 0 in Dawson Creek

As we got farther into Canada gas prices kept going up. For the night we stayed in a pull out just out side of Dawson Creek because the weather was clear and we hoped to see the northern lights. After watching for a while we saw nothing. I decided to take a picture of the sky and was amazed to actually see indications of the Borealis. Soon after the effect became stronger and we got some good pictures. At its height we could just see the phenominon with our naked eyes and it was cool. Hopefully before this journey is through I will see more.
