Mexico Cruise Part 1

 Mexican Riviera Cruse

One of the benefits of working for Holland America Princess Cruises is reduced price trips each year. In March Laura and I went on our first cruise--a 12 day cruise to the Mexican Riviera. We had a great time and got to detox from internet access. The following is from the log I kept of the journey.

Zaandam docked in San Diego

Cruise Day 0: Friday.  Traveled from Fredonia to California. Along the way we met Kailab in St George for lunch and took him to Walmart where he picked up his Starlink so he can get WiFi in his Big Rig on trips across the country. We stayed the night in a Highland AirB&B with gawdy colors and a beach motif.

Day 1: Saturday.  San Diego:  Went to Redlands temple for 8:30 session.

Deserts so many deserts

Traveled to San Diego through crowded traffic. Boarded the Zaandam at 2:30pm, unpacked, ate lunch (sandwich, fruit, dessert) Toured the whole ship (a small 1423 passenger vessel) then ate dinner at 5:00pm (steak, prime rib, shrimp, fruit, desserts, ice cream). Watched the history of Holland America and went to bed by 10:00 pm.

Day2: Sunday At sea. Took it easy. Ate food.

Day3: Monday. At sea. Magdalena Bay was great. We saw about 20 whales, some dolphin, pelicans, seagulls...
(I don't have access to my camera picture here in Alaska, just my phone pictures. So I guess I will have to update after I get home in September.)

 Day4: Tuesday.
Land's End Cabo San Lucas

Saw more whales pulling into Cabo. Tendered into shore and them went on the Cabo by Sea and Land tour. The sea part was basically taking a catamaran out to take pictures of Land's End. The the land part took us to a glass blowing facility, a resort just to take pictures of the bay, and then a ride over to San Jose to shop and look around. Also exchanged money at $1.00 equals 20 pesos.

Day 5: Wednesday. La Paz We did not go into La Paz but took a day off on the boat. We went to coloring class and origami then soaked in the jacuzzi and swimming pool. At night we watched a country music concert by John Roth who sang a bunch of oldies. Of course we ate a lot of good food.
